Before founding 1st Step Accounting, our founder, Nayo Carter-Gray, was balancing a full-time job while building a direct sales business and running a retail store. She understood what it took to operate a small business, but she also saw that many other entrepreneurs didn't have the accounting knowledge or support they needed. As her business continued to grow, she realized many traditional accounting firms weren't interested in working with smaller businesses. She believed those entrepreneurs deserved the same level of guidance and support as larger companies, so she decided to create a firm that would.
What started by helping fellow entrepreneurs navigate their taxes quickly grew into something bigger. As those businesses took their next steps, so did their need for bookkeeping, tax planning, and ongoing financial guidance.
